IPPG plans for 2000-01

 
  • Finding representatives in more countries such as Japan, Spain, Italy, Holland, Ireland, South America, Scandinavia etc.
  • Mailing out this newsletter to the trekking agencies and travel media in various countries.
  • Translating the pamphlet Sharing the Load in different languages and distribute it worldwide.
  • Looking for funding and a film unit to produce a documentary on the life of a porter. Any suggestions welcome.
  • Gaining charitable, or non-profit, status for IPPG organization in more countries.
  • And of course, the photographic exhibition Celebrating the Mountain Porter to be held in Kathmandu from September29th until October 5th. There will be an IPPG press release at the opening. Enquire at Yak & Yeti or the HRA office

The year 2002 will be dedicated by the United Nations as the Year of Mountain Culture, and it will be a great opportunity for IPPG to work towards porters' safety. IDEAS WELCOME!!!!!
