IPPG projects already started or in the pipeline

  • Develop the partnership with HEC (Himalayan Explorers Club) such the Porter Clothing Bank and other joint projects
  • Raise funds for the Porter Shelter Project
  • Start a fund for injured porters and/or their dependents
  • Produce a one-hour documentary film on porters (GEO Australia has already given AUD$500 donation towards this project). Contact Jim if you can help.
  • Produce a poster with IPPG logo and website address, for distribution in Nepal and outdoor shops and travel agents worldwide
  • Organise the photo-exhibition Celebrating the Mountain Porter in Canada, USA and Innsbruck, Austria, Australia and other countries
  • Support ACAP in organising a porters conference in Pokhara, Nepal
  • Network with other NGOs (contact Jim or your local rep if you think you can work with us)
It is quite simple to be a supporter of IPPG:

Spread the word, step in and complain about perceived injustices, ask your travel or trekking agent about their policy on porter safety and complain loudly if this is not up to standard. Finally, if you go trekking: take care of your porter.
