Mera porter first aid post

Sponsored by Summit Trekking and their manager Kit Spencer, this post is situated at Khare, 5200m. It has been running for three seasons now and 251 patients have been treated for various reasons such as (in order of frequency) headache, diarrhoea, cough/chest pain, AMS, abdominal problems, eye infection, trauma, and various others. It is estimated that each treatment costs US$5, when all costs are taken into account.
Kit Spencer has been helping with the planning of the Machermo porter rescue post. His experience with the Mera post is invaluable.
