Twice in 2002,
Kul has required additional surgery to correct some problems
that have developed from his amputations. The surgery has
improved his ability to walk independently and has reduced
his discomfort. He now wears modified boots/shoes and is
able to stand.
He continues
to be employed in a craft workshop in the Pashupatinath
temple area of Kathmandu where he has learned several new
skills.

In October,
he was able to travel to his small village southeast of
Lukla and spend the Dashain and Tihar Festivals with his
family.
He returned
to Kathmandu in early December and brought two of his three
daughters with him. They are now attending a private school
in Kathmandu. Plans are underway for his wife and youngest
daughter to join them in the near future. Finally, after
more than four years, his family will be re-united.
Prakash Adhikari,
IPPG Rep in Nepal, along with Elsie James, IPPG Canada (who
spends half the year in Nepal), and Tara Nath Girmire of
HEC are working closely with Kul. Our major objective is
to find a suitable vocational training program for him that
will give the family some future independence. A savings
program has been started to help him achieve his goals.
