Peregrine Adventures' fundraising treks

Doing anything in March?
Fancy a trek in Nepal, while raising money for the International Porter Protection Group (IPPG)?
If so, this might just be the trip for you.

On 17 March 2006 there will be a trek organised by Peregrine Adventures, an Australian based adventure travel company, which will take you to Everest Base Camp and the view points of Kala Patar and Gokyo Peak. The trip is will raise funds for the IPPG and its projects. Peregrine have agreed to donate the proceeds from the trip to IPPG.

The trip is 23 days in total and includes an 18-day trek. The trek will include a visit to the Machermo Porter Shelter and Rescue Post, one of the IPPG's projects. It will also provide you with a greater understanding of the culture, ethos and work done by the incredibl,e but vulnerable, porters of Nepal.

This is a spectacular trek offering magnificent views of Everest and an introduction to the Buddhist culture of the region. The money raised will facilitate the work of the IPPG and benefit the porters of Nepal through a better working environment and conditions.

Rejane, this area should change for each section. It is a short one or two paras on the theme of that section. e.g suport IPPG or News. In 1997, a young Nepali mountain porter employed by a trekking company got sick and was dismissed. It took about 30 hours for him to die, after being paid off and sent down on his own... IPPG was formed to prevent these recurring tragedies.
